In recent years, HealthGen Pharma Group has taken an active role in "rescuing and protecting children in distress" and "precision poverty alleviation," demonstrating the company's care and concern.
Based on the basic problems of food and clothing, education, medical care, and psychology faced by millions of children in distress nationwide, the Aiyou Charity Foundation established the "Aiyou Ansheng" project for rescuing and protecting children in distress in 2016. HealthGen Pharma Group donated more than 18 million yuan to such charitable projects from 2018 to 2019.
As of December 2019, the Aiyou Ansheng project continued to pilot the rescue and protection project for children in distress in 180 villages in 12 counties across 6 provinces. 15,129 Children's Homes were opened, accumulating 44,743 hours of operation, organizing 7,800 events with 176,789 participants. A rural grassroots children's welfare service system was established in each village, cultivating 178 children's welfare directors. The project points provide welfare delivery services to more than 50,000 children. The 178 children's welfare directors conducted 25,447 home visits to promptly identify the needs of children in distress and help them solve problems related to food and clothing, medical care, schooling, and psychological counseling. 11,002 personalized assistance applications were submitted for children in distress, including policy implementation, educational support, medical diagnosis, and delivery of care services—nutritional packages, hunger relief packages, and living packages, etc. Early childhood development and parenting projects were also carried out, including teacher training, online micro-lectures, offline activities for micro-lecture communities, and parent-child early education classes, benefiting 18,473 people and accumulating 313,721 beneficiaries.
For a long time, HealthGen has paid close attention to people's livelihood, actively responded to the national call for the battle against poverty, promoted poverty alleviation projects, gave full play to the role of listed companies in the fight against poverty, actively carried out precision poverty alleviation work, and spared no effort in helping poverty-stricken areas achieve precision poverty alleviation.
HealthGen is one of the earliest pharmaceutical companies to carry out chronic disease poverty alleviation. Through chronic disease poverty alleviation and industrial poverty alleviation, it has enabled the poor in poverty-stricken areas to achieve sustainable poverty alleviation. It launched a "chronic disease poverty alleviation" plan, donating millions of yuan worth of antihypertensive, hyperlipidemia, and cardiovascular disease drugs to impoverished counties, making it convenient for local patients to obtain medicine nearby and providing timely assistance to low-income people. In 2019, HealthGen & Lizhu Pharmaceutical Group added six more counties to their poverty alleviation efforts, namely Guangling County, Hunyuan County, and Lingqiu County in Shanxi Province; Dongxiang County and Tianzhu County in Gansu Province; and Jilin Province.
While doing sustained work in health poverty alleviation, HealthGen has also gradually begun to promote industrial poverty alleviation. Through the "company + base + impoverished households" poverty alleviation model, it radiates and drives impoverished households to plant and process Astragalus, creating a local Astragalus medicinal material industry, forming a long-term and pillar industry for poverty alleviation and wealth creation, and achieving the goal of enabling more impoverished people to permanently escape poverty.
Lizhu Group, a subsidiary of HealthGen, established an Astragalus GAP base in Hunyuan County, planting nearly 10,000 mu of Astragalus and establishing Datong Lizhu Qiyuan Pharmaceutical Materials Co., Ltd. Datong Lizhu, adapting to local conditions, developed an industrial poverty alleviation plan, employing hundreds of local farmers in its self-built and jointly built bases in Hunyuan County, providing them with professional techniques in Astragalus cultivation, and training farmers on how to use non-toxic and harmless methods to solve pest problems during Astragalus cultivation.
To alleviate poverty, one must first alleviate ignorance; to support poverty alleviation, one must first support intellectual development. Education is the fundamental solution to breaking the intergenerational transmission of poverty. In terms of education poverty alleviation, the company plans to carry out poverty alleviation and student aid projects in Linquan County, Fuyang City, Anhui Province from 2019 to 2021, providing 300,000 yuan in poverty alleviation education aid each year to support poor students from Linquan County who are enrolled in pharmaceutical universities, cultivating more talents for the pharmaceutical industry. The first year's 300,000 yuan in poverty alleviation education aid was already in place in 2019.
