On February 9, Jiankangyuan announced that the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) has recently accepted the application for the registration and listing of its domestically produced salmeterol/fluticasone propionate inhalation powder. According to the introduction, the original research product of salmeterol/fluticasone propionate inhalation powder is GlaxoSmithKline's (GSK) Seretide®, a combination inhalation powder of salmeterol and fluticasone propionate. Salmeterol is a long-acting β2-agonist that provides sustained bronchodilation; fluticasone propionate is a glucocorticoid that controls inflammation and reduces acute exacerbations. Salmeterol/fluticasone propionate inhalation powder is used for the regular treatment of reversible obstructive airway diseases, including asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
