Recently, Jiankechang® (Salmeterol/Fluticasone Propionate inhalation powder) under Jiankangyuan Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was launched online for the first time on JD Health. This drug is the first domestic generic drug of Seretide®, approved for marketing in China in June this year. It is used for the regular treatment of reversible obstructive airway diseases, including asthma in adults and children. JD Health will fully leverage its supply chain advantages to improve the accessibility of this drug, helping more asthma patients control their symptoms and reduce acute attacks.
Asthma is a common reversible obstructive airway disease. Common symptoms include coughing, phlegm, shortness of breath, or dyspnea. In severe cases, it may lead to respiratory failure and endanger life.
Previously, Seretide®, from GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), was the main drug for the treatment of reversible obstructive airway diseases. This drug is the world's first combination inhalation preparation of bronchodilator and glucocorticoid, approved for import in 2001. It is currently a Class B drug under the national medical insurance system.
Jiankechang® (Salmeterol/Fluticasone Propionate inhalation powder), launched online for the first time on JD Health, is a generic drug of Seretide®, independently developed by Jiankangyuan Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. It uses a combination inhalation powder of salmeterol and fluticasone propionate. Salmeterol is a long-acting β2-agonist that can lastingly dilate the bronchi; fluticasone propionate is a glucocorticoid that can control inflammation and reduce acute attacks. This combination of bronchodilator and glucocorticoid is currently a first-line treatment for asthma.
Studies have shown that after two weeks of using Jiankechang®, asthma patients showed significant improvement in coughing. After four weeks, about 50% of patients achieved good asthma control, and about 80% achieved good asthma control within one year. Three years of continuous medication can continuously improve airway hyperresponsiveness, with varying degrees of benefits in the short, medium, and long term.
