Adhering to the mission and vision of “For the health, For the future” and “Attentively develop high-quality drugs and innovative drugs”, Joincare Pharmaceutical Group Industry Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as the “Company” or “we”, “our”) also upholds the core values of “Putting People First, Valuing Workmanship and Quality, Pursuing Innovation and Truth, Promoting Cooperation and Sharing”. To practice the mission, realize the vision and enhance the core values of the Company, we strictly implement our EHS Management Policy. The EHS Management Policy specifies relevant standards of the Company on all issues related to employees, environment, health and safety and encourages all partners (including customers, suppliers and contractors) that have business relationships with the Company to comply with the provisions of this document.
- Scope of Application
This document applies to Joincare Pharmaceutical Group Industry Co., Ltd. and our wholly-owned and majority-owned subsidiaries as well as all employees (including full-time employees, part-time employees, temporary employees and contractors).
This document covers the production and business operations, products and services, distribution and logistics, waste management, due diligence, M&As and other aspects of the Company.
- Compliance
The contents of the Policy fully comply with relevant laws and regulations of the places where the Company produces and operates. If the requirements of the Policy are stricter than local laws and regulations, the ordinances designated in the Policy shall prevail.
- Management Structure
In order to provide solid guarantee to the high-efficient and rapid development of the Company and based on its long-term development, the Company set up the EHS Management Committee under the Sustainable Development Committee of the Board of Directors with an aim to guarantee the normal and efficient operation of the Company. With the CEO of the Group as the chief responsible person, the EHS Management Committee of the Company is responsible for the overall EHS planning of the Group. The responsible person of the EHS Management Committee is the in-charge vice president of the Group and is responsible for the implementation of the EHS policies and plans of the Group.
The EHS Management Committee of the Group set up the office at the EHS Department responsible for the routine matters of the EHS Management Committee of the Group. The first responsible person for the EHS of all subsidiaries of the Group is the general manager of the subsidiary, who is in charge of the overall EHS work of the subsidiary. The directly responsible person is the EHS department manager of the subsidiary, who is in charge of the implementation of specific EHS work of the subsidiary. All subsidiaries formulate specific personal duties based on their actual conditions and submit to the EHS Department of the Group for approval and filing.
- Overall Requirements
The Company formulates relevant requirements based on the EHS strategy and the current EHS management of the Group, the social development conditions upon the formulation and the Proposal on Adding Carbon Emission Goals to Joincare’s Environmental Management. The Company adds ESG indicators to the personal performance assessment of the Sustainable Development Working Group to achieve carbon peaking and carbon neutrality by 2028 and 2055 and better integrate corporate strategies with social responsibilities.
The Company should fully abide by all applicable laws and regulations on environment, occupational health and safety, such as the Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Air Pollution, the Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Environmental Pollution by Solid Wastes, the Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Water Pollution, the Law of the People’s Republic of China on Environmental Impact Assessment, the Air Pollutant Discharge Standards for Pharmaceutical Industry, the Energy Conservation Law of the People’s Republic of China, the Law of the People’s Republic of China on Promoting Clean Production, the Law of the People’s Republic of China on Work Safety, the Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Prevention and Treatment of Occupational Diseases, the Fire Prevention Law of the People’s Republic of China, the management systems and documents issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and other laws and regulations as well as implementation rules and ordinances of the places where the Company operates and produces.
Specific requirements of the Policy are as follows:
- Environment:
“The Three Wastes (waste gas, waste water, industrial residue)” management: The Company will implement measures on the reduction, recycling and safe disposal of wastes and reduce the impact of our operation on the environment to the maximum extent. We will conduct regular review to ensure the compliance with local regulations and strive to continuously improve our management practice in the three wastes.
Energy management: We will monitor and improve our use of energy to minimize our carbon footprint and reduce our environmental impacts. We will explore and implement feasible alternative energy and solutions on renewable energy.
Chemicals management: We will manage chemicals and hazardous substance in safe and responsible manners from the procurement to the disposal. We will implement appropriate measures to prevent spilling, leakage and releasing and regularly review and update our management policies and procedures on chemicals, including but not limited to the Regulations on Management of Pharmaceutical Production Sites, the Regulations on Annual Drug Report Management, the Regulations on Risk Assessment Management of Drug Production in the Same Line, the Safety and Environmental Management Manual and the VOCs Collection and Management System.
Water resources management: We will monitor and manage our use of water resources, reduce our consumption of water resources, protect the water quality and minimize the impact of our operation on the environment. We will explore and implement measures on saving water resources and implement the wastewater treatment systems.
Sustainable development: We will promote sustainable practices and strive to minimize the impact of our operation on the environment, including reducing the emissions of greenhouse gases, conducting responsible purchase of materials and promoting the awareness on environment management among employees.
- Health:
Occupational health: The Company strives to provide all employees, visitors, suppliers and contractors with safe and healthy workplaces. We will regularly conduct risk assessment and implement appropriate measures to prevent and minimize injuries and diseases at workplace. With target of “zero occupational health accident” and “zero new occupational disease” in occupational health management, we attach great importance to the physical and mental health of employees, regularly organize physical examinations for employees, engage professional institutions to carry out testing for potential occupational health hazard factors and conduct occupational disease hazard evaluation and strive to achieve 100% in the testing for potential occupational health hazard factors and the physical examinations for employees at positions exposed to occupational diseases.
Mental health and welfare: We recognize the importance of mental health and welfare at workplace and provide supports and resources to improve employees’ welfare and prevent pressures and burnout at workplace.
Ergonomics: We provide facilities with the ergonomic design to minimize body burdens and improve employees’ health and comfort.
Health publicity: We encourage employees to choose healthy activities and lifestyles.
Occupational health and safety trainings: We provide all employees with appropriate occupational health and safety trainings to enhance their awareness and ensure their health and safety.
- Safety:
Risk management: We will implement risk management procedures to ensure safety and health at workplaces. We will regularly evaluate the safety risk on workplaces and adopt appropriate measures to reduce or eliminate such risk.
Response to accidents and emergencies: We will formulate emergency response plans and carry out trainings and exercises to ensure the safe evacuation of employees and visitors in case of emergency.
Facilities and equipment safety: We will ensure our facilities and equipment in compliance with all applicable safety standards and regulations and conduct regular maintenance and inspections to ensure their safety and reliability.
Safety of employees, suppliers and contractors: We will ensure that our employees, suppliers and contractors understand and abide by safety regulations and adopt appropriate measures to ensure their safety.
Safety trainings: We will provide appropriate safety trainings to ensure that employees, suppliers and contractors understand and abide by all safety regulations and procedures.
Meanwhile, we persist in providing the society with high-quality products. We undertake to enhance the sense of participation of employees in the ESG governance of the Company through staff trainings, regular meetings and feedbacks and environmental protection activities. We will continue improving the EHS management and continuously monitoring and improving our EHS performance, thereby realizing our business targets and the goal of sustainable development.
- Implementation of the Policy
The Company ensures the Policy as the basis for monitoring the EHS progress of the Company and its effective implementation in Joincare Pharmaceutical Group Industry Co., Ltd. as well as our wholly-owned and majority-owned subsidiaries.
The Company expects that all full-time and part-time employees implement the Policy. If an employee believes that his/her colleagues violate the Policy, he/she shall immediately report to his/her leaders or inform the corresponding EHS management staff. The EHS management will immediately take necessary measures to prevent activities in violation of the Policy after receiving feedbacks.
Employees shall not be treated unfairly for whistle-blowing the violation of the Policy.
The Policy will be implemented through systematic measures with necessary technology, organizations and staff. The Policy will be adjusted irregularly based on the actual conditions of the Company.
VII. Supplementary Provisions
Matters not covered herein shall be executed in accordance with relevant laws, regulations, regulatory documents, the listing rules of the Shanghai Stock Exchange, and the Articles of Association of the Company, among other related provisions.
This system shall come into effect and be implemented from the date of approval by the Sustainable Development Committee of the Board.
This system shall be interpreted and amended by the EHS Department.
