Recently, Joincare Pharmaceutical Group Industry Co., Ltd.'s holding subsidiary, Lizhu Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd.'s wholly-owned subsidiary, Lizhu Pharmaceutical Factory (hereinafter referred to as "Lizhu Pharmaceutical"), and Shenzhen Xianggen Bio-Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Xianggen Bio"), focusing on innovative drugs for antifungal infections and an oral cyclic peptide innovation platform, jointly announced that the two parties have reached a strategic cooperation on SG1001 and signed a Greater China rights transaction agreement.

According to the agreement, Lizhu Pharmaceutical will obtain the exclusive rights to research and develop, manufacture, and commercialize all developable dosage forms and indications of SG1001 in Greater China (mainland China, Macau, Hong Kong, and Taiwan) for the treatment of antifungal infections and other therapeutic areas. Xianggen Bio will retain the rights to research, develop, manufacture, and commercialize SG1001 outside the cooperation region.
SG1001 is a novel antifungal dhodh inhibitor with independent intellectual property rights and a novel structure developed by Xianggen Bio, and is a Class 1 innovative chemical drug. This project won the third prize in the 14th China Shenzhen Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.
Dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (dhodh) is an oxidoreductase that catalyzes de novo pyrimidine biosynthesis, converting dihydroorotate to orotate. It is a key enzyme in fungal pyrimidine biosynthesis. SG1001 tablets selectively inhibit fungal dhodh, thereby inhibiting fungal pyrimidine biosynthesis, affecting cell wall formation, and inhibiting fungal growth. Currently, this product has obtained clinical trial approval in China and is intended for the treatment of invasive fungal diseases.
Mr. Tang Yanggang, Executive Director and President of Lizhu Pharmaceutical, said: "Lizhu continues to increase investment in innovative drug R&D. The cooperation with Xianggen Bio can further deepen Lizhu's layout in the new drug R&D pipeline in the field of anti-infection. We are optimistic about the future market potential of SG1001 and will accelerate the clinical development of this product to achieve commercialization as soon as possible."
Mr. Huang Shenghong, Chairman of Xianggen Bio, said: "We are very pleased to cooperate with Lizhu. We believe that under Lizhu's leadership, the SG1001 project will accelerate the clinical trial and commercialization process, providing a new drug for patients with fungal infections in China as soon as possible, bringing new hope for the treatment and life health of patients, and will surely accelerate the process of SG1001 going global."
Fungal infections are known as hidden killers and are a major cause of death in patients with tumors, AIDS, organ transplantation, etc. Invasive aspergillosis is a deep-seated fungal infection with an extremely poor prognosis, mostly occurring in the lungs, with a high mortality rate. Globally, more than 2 million people develop invasive aspergillosis annually in the context of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, severe infections, lung cancer, or hematological malignancies, with a crude annual mortality rate of 85.2%. Current first-line treatments are often limited in efficacy and have serious adverse reactions, and are increasingly prone to developing drug resistance. Long-term neutropenia, allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, hematological malignancies, solid organ transplantation, use of corticosteroids, advanced AIDS, chronic granulomatous disease, and the use of immunosuppressants are considered to be major factors inducing invasive aspergillosis, among which long-term neutropenia, allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, and hematological malignancies are high-risk factors.
