China's first inhaled antibiotic, Health Yuan Jianketo® (tobramycin inhalation solution), has been included in the national medical insurance catalogue.
On the morning of December 13, 2023, the 2023 National Medical Insurance Drug Catalog was officially released. Jian Ke Tuo® (tobramycin inhalation solution, 5ml: 300mg/vial), a product of Health Yuan, was included in the Category B of the National Medical Insurance Catalog. The agreement period is from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2025.
This product is suitable for adults with bronchiectasis accompanied by Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection in the lungs to control infection and improve symptoms. By changing the administration route from intravenous injection to nebulization inhalation, it increases the effective drug concentration in the lungs while reducing systemic toxicity, significantly reducing the risk of drug resistance. It is suitable for long-term maintenance treatment, providing more support for bronchiectasis patients and improving their quality of life.
It is understood that there are approximately 20 million bronchiectasis patients in China, with a prevalence of about 1.2% in people over 40 years old, yet there are no targeted drugs available. To address the high prevalence of bronchiectasis and the lack of clinical drugs in China, Health Yuan specially developed an improved new drug—Jian Ke Tuo® (tobramycin inhalation solution). This product was approved for marketing last October.
