On November 10, 2022, HealthGen Biotech (600380.SH) “Developed for Chinese Patients” 2022 Jianketo® New Drug Launch Conference was held simultaneously in Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Beijing, combining online and offline methods. Jianketo® is an inhaled antibiotic developed specifically for Chinese patients. It is the first domestically produced nebulized inhaled antibiotic for the treatment of bronchiectasis in China, suitable for adults with bronchiectasis accompanied by Pseudomonas aeruginosa lung infection, to control infection and improve symptoms. The successful launch of Jianketo® will change the current situation in China where there are no available drugs in the field of nebulized inhaled treatment for bronchiectasis, providing more support for bronchiectasis patients and improving their quality of life.
According to Professor Chen Rongchang, director of the Shenzhen Institute of Respiratory Diseases, inhaled preparations are the recognized preferred route of administration for treating respiratory diseases. The advancement and upgrading of inhaled administration methods and devices are significant breakthroughs achieved in the domestic respiratory field in recent years. We are very pleased that Shenzhen pharmaceutical companies can break through "bottleneck" technologies providing new clinical weapons to combat viruses. This is the first randomized, double-blind, multi-center, large-sample clinical study in China targeting bronchiectasis. Under the leadership of Academician Zhong Nanshan, this clinical trial globally pioneered a dual clinical efficacy research endpoint: changes in bacterial load and bronchiectasis patient quality of life scores, achieving globally unprecedented dual-positive significant efficacy conclusions, with good safety, providing solid and reliable data support for the drug's listing in China.
Bronchiectasis has always been a common but easily overlooked clinical condition in chronic respiratory diseases. Previously, due to the lack of inhaled antibiotics in China, the treatment progress in the stable phase of bronchiectasis has stagnated, placing a heavy burden on patients, the medical system, and society.
HealthGen's independently developed tobramycin inhalation solution is a modified new drug developed in response to the high prevalence of bronchiectasis in China and the lack of clinical drugs.
