Located in Nanshan District, Shenzhen, HealthGen Biotech Group, with HealthGen and Lizhu Pharmaceutical as its two listed companies, focuses on innovative drugs and high-barrier complex preparations. It has successfully developed two blockbuster products exceeding 1 billion yuan each, achieving remarkable success in its transformation and striving towards becoming a leading enterprise. The group's inhalation preparation pipeline now covers four major products, with another four new products expected to be put into production this year.

Currently, the company's respiratory inhalation preparation sector has four products (seven specifications) approved for marketing, including levosalbutamol hydrochloride nebulization solution, combined ipratropium bromide inhalation solution, ipratropium bromide inhalation solution, and budesonide suspension for inhalation. Among them, levosalbutamol hydrochloride nebulization solution is included in the National Medical Insurance Catalog, and after the implementation of medical insurance in March 2021, it achieved rapid coverage and sales growth; the other three products were successfully selected for the fifth batch of national centralized procurement, with significant volume increase and accelerated commercialization.

In its 2021 annual report and 2022 first-quarter report, HealthGen mentioned that the main reason for the company's performance growth came from the significant sales growth of the chemical preparation sector during the reporting period. Sales in key advantageous areas such as respiratory, digestive, gonadotropin, and mental health experienced sustained and rapid growth, coupled with the steady improvement in profitability and proportion of high-end specialty raw materials in the raw material drug sector.

HealthGen's inhalation preparations have seen a significant increase in volume after centralized procurement, making a huge contribution to the company's 2021 performance. It achieved revenue of 577 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 658%; the Q4 of 2021 saw a month-on-month increase of over 110%. In a recent investor relations event, HealthGen attributed the impressive growth rate of its inhalation preparations to the following driving factors: 1. The sales team building and product hospital admission work in this sector progressed smoothly. More than 4,000 secondary and above-level hospitals have been developed. Continuous promotion of the construction of a digital marketing platform, creating the phenomenal nationwide public welfare challenge activity "Who is the Strongest Lung" on Douyin, and conducting refined popular science education on respiratory diseases across multiple platforms. The new digital marketing model has also brought new vitality to the sector's commercialization; 2. The landing of the fifth batch of centralized procurement, with the three products won by HealthGen showing significant volume increase and good delivery; 3. HealthGen's first-to-market generic 3-class drug, and the only domestically produced inhalation preparation, levosalbutamol hydrochloride nebulization solution (Levosal), has seen accelerated hospital admission and volume increase since the implementation of medical insurance in March 2021; 4. The autumn and winter seasons are peak seasons for respiratory diseases, and the demand for inhalation preparations increased significantly in Q4.

It is understood that HealthGen adheres to R&D innovation as its driving force, focusing on the R&D of innovative drugs and high-barrier complex preparations. It has established a clear product R&D pipeline around product lines in areas such as antimicrobials, anti-tumor, gonadotropin, digestion, neurology, and respiration. In recent years, HealthGen has continued to increase its R&D investment, focusing on the construction of technology platforms such as inhalation administration, antibody technology, sustained-release microspheres, and lipid microemulsions, continuously improving its R&D competitiveness. In the first three quarters of 2021, the company's R&D expenses reached 959 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 37.85%.

Data from MiNet shows that in 2020, the sales of anti-asthma and COPD drugs in China's urban public hospitals, county-level public hospitals, urban community centers, and township health centers exceeded 20 billion yuan, with inhalation preparations accounting for as high as 70% of the market share and showing a year-on-year upward trend.

Regarding centralized procurement, HealthGen stated that the company is confident in its current R&D layout, efficiency, and performance support points. On the one hand, the company has made preparations in advance in various aspects such as business, production, and terminals. On the other hand, the company will continue to increase its innovation efforts, enhance its competitiveness, and promote the company's stable operation. As the company's new products, represented by inhalation preparations, are gradually launched, commercialization will gradually enter a stable contribution period, the company's product structure will continue to be optimized, and the dependence on single products will gradually decrease.
