October 13, 2020, Tao Hua Yuan. Jian The public welfare practice base of Jiankangyuan was officially launched at the Xiang Hai Nature Reserve in Jilin Province. Representatives from the government of Tongyu County, Baicheng City, Jilin Province, the Tao Hua Yuan Foundation, and Jiankangyuan Group attended the unveiling ceremony.

At the ceremony, a Jiankangyuan spokesperson stated: Everyone, regardless of their wealth, has the right to enjoy a healthy old age. In impoverished areas, many elderly people are plagued by chronic diseases. We have launched a unique chronic disease poverty alleviation plan in response to national policies. Our goal is to raise awareness about this elderly population, as they are a vulnerable group among the impoverished. This form of targeted poverty alleviation was a first for domestic enterprises at the time. The plan primarily targets elderly individuals with hypertension, hyperlipidemia, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and stomach problems, providing free medication assistance and doing our utmost to provide them with medical aid.

The establishment of this "public welfare practice base" is significant for the impoverished people in the Xiang Hai area. Many people are familiar with the Xiang Hai Nature Reserve, located in Tongyu County in western Jilin Province, on the Songliao Plain. It borders the Horqin Grassland of Inner Mongolia and is a nature reserve primarily focused on protecting rare water birds such as the red-crowned crane and rare plant communities such as the Mongolian elm. It boasts rich biological resources and diverse landscapes and is a very beautiful place.

However, even before the establishment of the reserve, many people had lived in and depended on Xiang Hai for generations. Currently, the reserve spans four townships, 12 villages, and 32 natural settlements in Tongyu County, with over 20,000 people living and working there. Because development and conservation are two major issues, the dynamics of Xiang Hai have always been closely watched.

To this end, Jiankangyuan & Lizhu Group's chronic disease poverty alleviation project has officially been implemented in the villages surrounding the Xiang Hai protected area. The plan is to donate 1 million yuan worth of medicine annually for three consecutive years to 16 villages, primarily targeting hypertension, hyperlipidemia, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and stomach problems, to support health poverty alleviation. To date, medication assistance has been provided to over 1,000 registered residents.

The report of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposed decisively winning the battle against poverty, resolving regional overall poverty, and achieving genuine poverty alleviation. Therefore, promoting poverty alleviation work is an important requirement for building a harmonious socialist society. Jiankangyuan has always attached importance to poverty relapse due to illness, which is of particular significance for poverty alleviation.

As a council member of the Tao Hua Yuan Foundation, Jiankangyuan is one of the earliest pharmaceutical companies in China to engage in health poverty alleviation. Since launching its chronic disease poverty alleviation project in 2018, Jiankangyuan has been deeply involved in medical poverty alleviation. This collaboration with the Tao Hua Yuan Foundation fully leverages the role of listed companies in poverty alleviation and actively participates in poverty alleviation work in Xiang Hai. To date, Jiankangyuan has implemented chronic disease poverty alleviation projects in Gansu, Sichuan, Shanxi, Jilin, Tibet, and other regions.

Without the health of the entire population, there can be no comprehensive well-off society. Jiankangyuan is using action to fulfill its mission and responsibility in health poverty alleviation, helping to improve public health awareness, assisting the needy, and contributing to the fight against poverty.
