Lizhu Group and the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences jointly established an innovative protein degradation drug research center

To strengthen technological cooperation between research institutions and enterprises, promote technological innovation, and accelerate the industrialization of scientific and technological achievements, Lizhu Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. and the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, reached a cooperation consensus. A signing ceremony for the joint construction of an innovative protein degradation drug research center was held on August 24, 2020. The center will focus on protein degradation technology, select appropriate targets for innovative drug research and development, and promote the industrial transformation of research and development achievements.

This jointly-built platform will integrate the scientific research strength of the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, with Lizhu Group's industrialization resources. This close cooperation and mutually beneficial win-win cooperation model will help accelerate new drug research and development and achievement transformation, contributing to the development of innovative drugs in China. At the same time, this cooperation will inject strong R&D momentum into Lizhu, enriching its product pipeline and enhancing the company's overall competitiveness, aligning with the company's strategic development direction.

The Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, is a comprehensive chemical research institution integrating basic research, applied research, and high-tech innovation research. Founded in May 1950, it is one of the first 15 institutes established by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Its predecessor was the former Central Research Institute of Chemistry, established in July 1928. Since its establishment, the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry has completed the total synthesis of bovine insulin, yeast alanine transfer ribonucleic acid, and artemisinin, as well as many major achievements in the field of biomedicine, such as antibiotics and steroid drugs.
