The 2019 Intestinal Microecology Industry-Academia-Research Sino-Japanese Exchange Summit Forum, hosted by Jiankangyuan Pharmaceutical Group and Jiangsu Weikang Biological Probiotics Joint Research Center, was held in Shenzhen on June 15th.

More than 100 experts, scholars, and professionals from Japan and China gathered together, including Professor Kazuyoshi Yazawa, director of the Department of Health Food Science at Waseda University, Japan; Professor Toshio Sugiyama of Hokkaido University, Japan; Kana Hattori of Sansho Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Japan; Yoshihiro Utsu, chairman of Utsu Kyumei Maru Co., Ltd.; and Tsutomu Kawasaki, consultant of the Sino-Japanese Medical Science and Technology Exchange Association and general manager of Subaru Communication Co., Ltd., as well as well-known Chinese scholars and experts such as Professor Yang Yunsheng, leader of the Department of Gastroenterology at the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army; Professor Liu Zhi of the School of Life Sciences and Technology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology; Director Gu Jieruo of the Department of Rheumatology and Immunology, the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University; Director Zhang Ming of the Nutrition Department, Peking University Shenzhen Hospital; Director Hu Shuangcheng of the Department of Gastroenterology, Yunshen Medical; Professor Fang Shuguang, founder of Jiangsu Weikang Biological; and Dr. Zhu Jianguo, chief scientist and R&D director. They engaged in extensive and in-depth discussions on topics including intestinal microecology and probiotic clinical research, lactic acid bacteria and preventive medicine, gut microbiota and digestive diseases, the application of probiotics in chronic disease management, probiotics assisting cancer treatment, and probiotics in Japan, promoting academic exchanges in the field of probiotics and health both domestically and internationally.
In terms of functional probiotics empowering health and product development, experts from the probiotic industrialization field introduced the development trend of probiotic health foods, showing through data that the future market for probiotic products is expected to experience sustained and rapid growth.
